stability | 1-methylcyclohexanol is a high flash point flammable liquid. |
emergency treatment after leakage | Personal personal protective equipment should be used to avoid dust generation, inhalation of steam, smoke or gas, remove all the fire source, the evacuation of personnel to a safe area, avoid inhalation of dust; For environmental protection, such as to ensure personal safety under the premise, measures can be taken to prevent further leakage or spillage, taking care not to allow the product to enter the sewer; For leaking chemicals, containment of the spill should be selected, the 1-methylcyclohexanol spill is collected with an anti-electric vacuum cleaner or a wet brush and placed in a container for treatment according to local regulations and placed in a suitably closed container for treatment. |
Use | solvents and intermediates for organic synthesis are available. |
production method | a 1-methylcyclohexene was prepared by the following procedure. Mercury acetate was dissolved in water, diethyl ether was added, 1-methylcyclohexene was added dropwise with vigorous stirring, stirring was continued for half an hour at room temperature, then sodium hydroxide solution was added, followed by sodium hydroxide solution of sodium borohydride, the rate of addition was adjusted and the temperature of the reaction mixture was maintained below 25 °c by cooling in an ice bath. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for a further 2H, at which time bright liquid mercury was visible, and the supernatant was decanted to separate from the Mercury. The ether layer in the supernatant was separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with ether. The extraction solution was mixed with the ether layer, dried, and then the ether was distilled off, followed by distillation to obtain the finished product. The yield was about 70%-75%. |
